Adventures in Chicago

I spent this past weekend in The Windy City--Chicago, Illinois. Being from Illinois, you would think that I would be a frequent visitor to Chicago, but honestly, I'm not. I've grown up in this state, but I've never actually really been into the city. I've seen Shed Aquarium and I've been to the suburbs. I've seen Chicago in so many movies and on TV, but there's something about seeing this view in person that's breathtaking...

The buildings are unbelievable. Again, it's something you just can't describe to someone. You have to be there to experience it for yourself. Everything was just so big and beautiful. I don't know how someone could live there all the time though. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just that I couldn't do it.

I go to school downstate, but I have a lot of friends from the Chicagoland area. Everybody rants and raves about Portillo's Hot Dogs. You don't know how many times I've been told that I have to go there to eat. I finally fulfilled this promise. Let me tell you, they were right. All of them. I got an Italian Beef Sandwich, and it was pretty much the best thing ever. I lost my Portillo's virginity, and I ain't complaining.

We stayed in a hotel right off of Michigan Ave., so of course we had to go explore all of the shopping! We were really close to the Hancock Building and Water Tower Place Mall, as well as H&M and TopShop....so my wardrobe is good to go for a while. We also made our way into the Hershey's store, where they had the biggest bottle of chocolate syrup I had ever seen! Imagine my disappointment when I found out it was a piggy bank...

Overall, it was a really good weekend! A much needed break from the craziness of school, and now I still have the whole week at home for Spring Break. Too bad I have 3 tests to study for, a paper to write, and an article to write for the school paper...
